Featured collaborators:

Devin Osorio grew up as a first-generation Dominican American in the northern Manhattan neighborhood of Washington Heights. Osorio takes inspiration from Dominican culture and folkloric traditions, including a strong emphasis on textile patterns. These cultural influences merge with biographical details from Osorio’s lived experience, yielding paintings that function as secular reliquaries, commemorating a life lived between cultures.

Dr. Margarita Rosa is a Harlem-based public scholar and curator specializing in Afro-Latinx, Latinx, and Black Atlantic history and contemporary art. Her work has been featured in Ebony, Hyperallergic, and Teen Vogue. Her academic scholarship appears in publications like the Journal of African American History, Slavery & Abolition, and the Black Scholar. Born in Tenares, Dominican Republic, and raised in Jersey City, Rosa earned a PhD in comparative literature (Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese) from Princeton. She has taught at Stanford University and currently lectures in Black and Latino studies at Baruch College.

Simon Benjamin is a Jamaican multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker based in New York. His work examines how the past influences the present, focusing on the sea and coastal spaces to explore lesser-known histories and colonial legacies shaping our interconnected future. A 2023 New York City Artadia Awardee and 2023–24 Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program Awardee, Benjamin’s work has been featured internationally, including Documenta 15 (Germany), Kingston Biennial (Jamaica), Third Horizon Film Festival (Miami), and Trinidad+Tobago film festival. He earned his MFA from Hunter College in 2021.
