HURRICANE BERYL: CALL TO ACTION

Hurricane Beryl devastated our beloved island nations of St. Vincent & The Grenadines, Grenada, Carriacou, Petite Martinique, Barbados, and Jamaica, all severely impacted by the Category 5 tropical cyclone. Our Caribbean community is rallying right now to provide relief, supplies, and support to individuals and families back home. ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

This month we are featuring our MET Salon guest speakers Dejá Aaliyah Belardo and Yamil Arbaje!

Dejá Aaliyah Belardo 🇻🇮

Dejá Aaliyah Belardo is a multi-media painter, muralist, and curator from St. Croix, V.I. Using acrylic paint for its vibrancy and collage as a metaphor for bringing people together, their work challenges perception and subjectivity. Along with color theory, their artistic practice is shaped by a political science background, and challenges the way people connect, especially at cross sections of intersectional identity.

Dejá’s curatorial work centers on non-traditional pathways into the art world and art making, with care and consideration for marginalized groups of people. They are a curator at The Shed who works with the Civic Program to create space for community and public engagement through a multi-disciplinary approach.
